Quad Cities, IL – Showers and thunderstorms are expected across parts of Illinois today, mainly along and south of Interstate 80. The National Weather Service says the highest chances for rain will come in the afternoon and evening, with probabilities ranging from 30 to 60 percent.

According to the US National Weather Service Quad Cities, strong to severe storms are not anticipated, but residents should prepare for scattered showers that may affect late-day commutes and outdoor plans. Rain chances will diminish overnight, continuing south of I-80.

Wednesday will bring improving conditions, with only a 10 to 30 percent chance of isolated showers in the region. By Thursday, forecasters expect a shift to drier weather, lasting into the weekend. Temperatures are forecast to stay above seasonal averages, with highs in the mid-70s to near 80 degrees by Friday.

“Pleasant conditions are on the way starting Thursday,” forecasters noted, highlighting the return of sunshine and warmer temperatures to close out the work week.

Residents traveling across the region, particularly near Galesburg, Macomb, and Springfield, should monitor local forecasts for updated rainfall probabilities.
