Cheyenne, WY – A High Wind Warning remains in effect for parts of southeast Wyoming through 3 p.m. MDT Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.

The warning, issued at 3:51 p.m. MDT on Thursday, October 16, 2025, covers the South and North Laramie Range, Laramie Range Foothills, East and Southwest Platte Counties, and the North Snowy Range Foothills — including Cheyenne, Laramie, Wheatland, Bordeaux, Arlington, and Elk Mountain.

Forecasters report sustained west winds between 25 and 40 mph, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph along stretches of Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie, and Interstate 25 near Wheatland and Chugwater.

According to meteorologist Fuller, these strong crosswinds pose significant hazards for light and high-profile vehicles, such as campers and tractor-trailers. Drivers are advised to delay travel if possible, or use extreme caution when crossing exposed areas and mountain passes.

Winds are expected to gradually decrease late Friday afternoon, but gusty conditions may persist through the weekend across the high plains.
