Davenport, Iowa – Storms developing west of the Quad Cities could intensify within the next few hours, bringing the risk of strong winds, hail, and heavy rain along the I-80 corridor through late evening.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, isolated showers and thunderstorms are forming near Cedar Rapids and Marshalltown and moving east at around 45 mph. Storm coverage is expected to increase through the evening, with some storms potentially becoming strong to severe before reaching the Mississippi River.

Communities including Iowa City, Clinton, and the Quad Cities metro—Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, and Moline—could see impacts before 10 p.m. Stronger storms may produce gusty winds capable of downing small branches, hail, frequent lightning, and bursts of heavy rainfall that reduce visibility on roads like I-80 and US-61.

Drivers should be prepared for rapidly changing conditions, especially during evening travel. Ponding on roads and brief low visibility could create hazardous driving իրավիճations in heavier downpours.

Residents are urged to monitor alerts, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and move indoors if thunder is heard. The storm threat will shift east later tonight, but additional updates are likely if severe storms develop.
