KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Thick fog settled over much of western Missouri early Saturday, prompting travel advisories and slowdowns along I-70 and local routes. Visibility dropped to near zero in low-lying areas, creating hazardous driving for morning commuters and those heading to fall events.

According to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Saturday, with conditions improving as sunshine breaks through late morning. Drivers are urged to use low-beam headlights and allow extra space between vehicles.

After a cool, hazy start, Kansas City will warm quickly under mostly sunny skies. Highs will rise to the upper 70s Saturday and mid-80s Sunday, offering ideal weather for pumpkin patches and outdoor markets. Winds will increase slightly Sunday, with gusts approaching 25 mph by afternoon.

A weak cold front arrives Monday—Columbus Day—bringing scattered showers and a brief cooldown. Rain chances sit near 30%, mainly between late morning and early afternoon. Most areas will see less than a tenth of an inch, though slick roads could impact early holiday travelers.

By midweek, dry and mild fall weather will dominate again. Clear skies, calm nights, and highs in the low 70s will create perfect conditions for decorating, leaf-viewing drives, and outdoor school events.

Residents should stay alert for rapid fog formation early next week and continue to monitor updates from the NWS and MoDOT for any new advisories.
