Denver, CO – Another round of snow is expected to develop across Colorado’s mountains later Sunday morning before spreading east into the foothills and plains by evening, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Denver/Boulder.
Forecasters say snow will become widespread and heavier this afternoon and evening, creating slick roads and slower travel conditions, particularly in the high country and along the I-70 corridor. Those traveling to mountain passes are urged to plan ahead for winter driving conditions and longer travel times.
Across the I-25 corridor, including Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins, only light snow or flurries are expected to develop late this afternoon and evening. However, a few briefly heavier snow bands could form, mainly along and south of I-70, where localized totals of up to 2 inches are possible. Most areas on the plains are expected to see only a dusting to half an inch of accumulation.
The NWS advises that winter travel impacts will begin by late morning in the mountains and spread east through the evening, with conditions improving by early Monday. Drivers can check cotrip.org for live updates on road conditions, chain laws, and closure advisories.
