Pendleton, IN – Drivers on Interstate 69 faced heightened patrols Friday morning as multiple agencies conducted a coordinated traffic enforcement sweep across Hamilton County and surrounding areas.
According to the Indiana State Police, the “Late Is No Excuse” operation ran from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on September 12, 2025, between mile markers 200 and 251. Thirty troopers, joined by the Noblesville Police Department and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, focused on aggressive driving and other violations that continue to pose risks on Indiana highways.
The enforcement effort targeted speeding, seatbelt compliance, distracted driving under Indiana’s hands-free law, and commercial vehicle safety.
In total, troopers conducted 194 traffic stops, issuing 98 citations and 145 warnings. Eleven people were arrested on criminal charges. Officers also carried out 17 commercial vehicle inspections, uncovering 43 violations and placing one vehicle out of service.
“This kind of collaboration across jurisdictions shows our shared commitment to keep Indiana roads safe,” said Lieutenant Coley McCutcheon, Pendleton District Commander. “Drivers need to understand there is no excuse for putting others at risk. Whether you’re late or not, safety must come first.”
State police reminded drivers to buckle up, avoid distractions, and never use a cell phone while driving.
