FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Northern Indiana begins the week under calm, classic fall weather, but changes are ahead as rain chances return by the weekend. Patchy fog this morning gives way to bright skies and mild air, setting up a stretch of dry days before a frontal system sweeps through Saturday with scattered showers and possible thunderstorms.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, fog may linger through 9 a.m., reducing visibility along I-69 and rural routes south of Fort Wayne. Drivers are urged to slow down and use low beams until conditions improve. Once fog lifts, highs will rise to the upper 70s Tuesday afternoon with light winds and plenty of sunshine.

High pressure holds through Thursday, keeping skies clear and humidity low. Temperatures will range from highs near 68°F to 74°F, with crisp overnight lows in the 40s. By Friday, clouds begin to increase ahead of a stronger disturbance that will bring a 60–70% chance of showers Saturday. Locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds are possible, though widespread severe weather is not expected.

Conditions improve Sunday as cooler, drier air moves back in from the northwest — a perfect reset for leaf-viewing drives and outdoor events across Allen and DeKalb Counties.
