INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The air over central Indiana feels mild and restless this morning, the kind of November calm that rarely lasts. Skies are mostly clear for now, but a change is brewing. After a stretch of pleasant sunshine, rain and a few thunderstorms arrive Friday, followed by cooler, breezy air heading into the weekend.

Today stays comfortably warm, with highs near 69°F and southwest winds gusting up to 30 mph. The breeze will add a late-fall bite at times, especially in open areas along I-70 and I-65, where crosswinds could nudge lighter vehicles. According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, Thursday will be another mild day, topping out near 59°F under mostly sunny skies.

By Thursday night, clouds increase, and the first sprinkles may develop toward dawn Friday. Rain and scattered thunderstorms expand through the day, bringing gusts near 25 mph. While severe storms aren’t expected, brief downpours and slick roads could slow travel into the evening commute. Temperatures hold near the mid-60s, but a noticeable shift arrives Friday night as winds turn northwest.

Saturday begins cooler and partly sunny, with highs falling to the mid-50s. A few lingering showers may pop up during the afternoon, but most areas will dry out. Sunday looks breezy and colder, starting near freezing in rural counties.

Looking ahead, early signs of a mid-November cold snap could bring the season’s first frost risk before Veterans Day. For now, Hoosiers can enjoy one last warm stretch — just don’t forget the umbrella by Friday.
