LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Fall weather is serving up a calm, picture-perfect weekend across Jefferson County, with chilly mornings giving way to bright afternoons. Early fog could slow travel along I-65 and local routes Saturday morning, but skies will clear quickly, setting the stage for outdoor plans across metro Louisville.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, patchy fog may linger through 9 a.m. Saturday before sunshine dominates the rest of the day. Temperatures will hover in the low 70s through Sunday, ideal for fall festivals, farmers markets, and leaf viewing at Cherokee Park or along the Riverwalk. Drivers should use low beams and reduce speed in fog-prone areas, especially near open fields and the Ohio River valleys.

Sunday brings more sunshine and light winds, while Columbus Day on Monday turns slightly warmer, climbing to the mid-70s. The stretch of calm, dry days continues through early next week with highs approaching the upper 70s by Tuesday. Gardeners are advised to take advantage of the mild weather for late-season planting before a potential cool down later in October.

Local utilities report no major service concerns, and Louisville Metro Emergency Management encourages residents to check smoke alarms and prepare vehicles for the coming colder snaps later this fall. Clear skies and low humidity should make for excellent stargazing conditions this weekend as well.
