HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Thunderstorms will continue across north Alabama through Sunday, especially for communities east of Interstate 65, before a sharp cooldown brings more comfortable weather early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, scattered storms are expected Saturday and Sunday with heavy downpours and lightning possible during the afternoon and evening hours. Stronger cells may impact travel on I-65 and local roadways in Madison, Jackson and DeKalb counties.
By Monday, a cold front will push south, ushering in a much drier and cooler air mass. Highs will only reach the mid-70s to low 80s through midweek, with overnight lows dropping into the 50s in higher elevations and lower 60s across the Tennessee Valley. This marks the first taste of fall-like weather for the region after weeks of humid summer heat.
Residents are advised to remain weather-aware through Sunday, avoid flooded roadways, and seek shelter indoors during lightning. Cooler, less humid conditions are expected to dominate the workweek with little rain in the forecast.
