Chicago, IL – Severe weather Monday night caused significant disruptions along Interstate 55 in Will County, Illinois. Both directions of I-55 between US Rt. 6 and Lorenzo Rd. were closed due to downed power lines, with frontage roads on both sides also impacted.
According to officials, the area experienced powerful wind gusts exceeding 80 mph, which led to multiple crashes and traffic disruptions. Access to northbound I-55 from US Rt. 6 and Bluff Rd. remains restricted as crews work to clear the power lines and restore safe passage. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and exercise caution when traveling in the affected area.
