Fresno, CA – The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for much of the San Joaquin Valley, warning drivers of visibility reduced to one-quarter mile or less through 11 a.m. PST Saturday.

The advisory covers a wide area, including Fresno, Visalia, Hanford, Merced, Madera, Porterville, and Los Banos, as well as sections of Interstate 5 and Highways 99 and 198.

Forecasters say dense fog will persist through the early morning hours, creating hazardous travel conditions, particularly in low-lying and rural areas. Drivers are urged to slow down, use headlights, and maintain extra following distance as visibility may change rapidly.

Fog typically thickens near dawn before slowly lifting by late morning as temperatures rise. The NWS advises commuters to allow extra travel time and use caution on roads and highways throughout the Central Valley.

This fog event follows calm overnight winds and high humidity—classic “Tule fog” conditions that often affect the Valley during early winter months.
