Flagstaff, AZ – Arctic air will sweep into northern Arizona beginning Saturday, November 30, bringing freezing temperatures, light snow, and bitter wind chills through the first week of December.

According to the National Weather Service, the Arctic front—originating from Canada and spreading across the Rockies—will dip as far south as Arizona over the weekend. The Climate Prediction Center forecasts a 60–75% chance of below-normal temperatures, with lows dropping into the teens and 20s in northern areas and wind chills falling into the single digits at higher elevations.

Drivers along I-17 and I-40 should prepare for slick roadways, blowing snow, and poor visibility, particularly between Flagstaff, Winslow, and Williams. The Arizona Department of Transportation warns that icy bridges and snow-packed sections are likely during morning and nighttime travel.

This Arctic blast represents the first significant early-season cold push for Arizona, with temperatures running 15–25 degrees below average in the northern half of the state. Meanwhile, southern and desert areas—like Phoenix and Tucson—will remain cool but above freezing.

Residents in mountain regions are advised to protect exposed pipes, bring pets indoors, and monitor local forecasts for additional winter weather advisories as the cold air deepens.
