Raleigh, NC – A chilly, calm morning is underway across much of central and eastern North Carolina, where a Frost Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM EDT Saturday. The National Weather Service in Raleigh says temperatures will dip into the mid-30s and low 40s, bringing patchy frost from the Triangle through the Sandhills and toward the Coastal Plain.

Areas under the advisory include Raleigh, Durham, Greensboro, Fayetteville, Wilson, Rocky Mount, and Sanford. Light winds and clear skies have set the stage for frost formation in sheltered and rural valleys. Even a light coating of frost can damage tender vegetation, so residents should cover plants, bring potted flowers indoors, and disconnect hoses to protect outdoor fixtures.

By mid-morning, the sun will warm things quickly, with temperatures rebounding into the upper 50s and low 60s under bright blue skies. Roads remain dry, but drivers may notice foggy patches and frosty windshields during early commutes.

This brief cold snap is part of a larger early-November pattern bringing crisp, dry air across the Mid-Atlantic. Sunday morning may bring another round of light frost in outlying areas, but daytime highs will climb back toward the upper 60s and lower 70s early next week — ideal for outdoor cleanup, leaf-peeping, or early holiday decorating.

After an unseasonably warm October, this morning’s chill serves as a gentle reminder that fall has officially taken hold across North Carolina.
