Duluth, MN – The National Weather Service in Duluth has downgraded earlier warnings to Winter Weather Advisories across much of northern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, where snow continues to create slick travel conditions through early Wednesday.

Forecasters say an additional 2 to 5 inches of snow could accumulate overnight in areas including Duluth, Superior, Hayward, Phillips, Grand Rapids, and Ashland. The advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. CST for parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin, and until noon Wednesday for counties farther east along Lake Superior.

Road conditions are expected to be snow-covered and slippery, especially along Interstate 35 and U.S. Highways 2 and 53. Gusty winds may lead to localized blowing snow, briefly reducing visibility during heavier bursts.

The heaviest totals are expected near Wright, Moose Lake, and the Ashland–Iron County corridor, with lesser amounts toward Duluth and northern areas. Commuters should plan for extra travel time and use caution during the Tuesday night and Wednesday morning commutes.

Motorists are encouraged to check travel updates at 511mn.org (Minnesota) or 511wi.gov (Wisconsin) before heading out.
