Portland, ME – A crash on Interstate 295 in Portland late Friday night led to an OUI arrest and several hours of traffic disruption, according to Maine State Police.

The incident happened September 19, 2025, at about 10:37 p.m. when a South Portland officer spotted a Ford F-250 traveling northbound at high speed. Moments later, police say the truck, driven by 25-year-old Taylor Delano of Wiscasset, struck an Acura traveling in the same direction. The truck overturned, broke through a guardrail, and came to rest against trees along the embankment.

According to troopers, Delano and a passenger were taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with minor injuries. The Acura driver was also transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police say Delano is charged with OUI-1 Prior, OUI Revoked-3 Prior, Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon, and a probation hold. Authorities noted that both speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.

I-295 northbound was reduced to a single lane for several hours as Stewart’s Towing cleared the scene and removed the vehicle.
