Pueblo, Colorado – Near-record warmth and dry air are driving temperatures into the upper 80s across southern Colorado today, but a sharp shift toward wetter and cooler conditions will begin within the next 24 to 48 hours.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, most lower elevations—including Pueblo, La Junta, and Lamar—will remain dry and warm today, with highs ranging from the mid-80s to near 90 degrees. Only isolated showers are expected over the interior mountains this afternoon.
Conditions begin changing Tuesday as a Pacific system moves into the state, increasing moisture and storm coverage. Rain and high-elevation snow showers become more widespread by Wednesday, with precipitation chances climbing to 60 to 90 percent across areas like Colorado Springs, Salida, and Trinidad. Mountain مناطق including Leadville and Woodland Park could see accumulating snow during this period.
Travel along I-25 and Highway 50 may be impacted by rain and reduced visibility by midweek, while higher passes could turn slick with snow. Residents should prepare for rapidly changing conditions after the early-week warmth, including cooler temperatures and unsettled weather.
The active pattern continues through midweek, with additional advisories likely as precipitation coverage and intensity increase across Colorado.
