Pueblo, CO – The National Weather Service (NWS) Pueblo reports that much of southern Colorado will experience a stretch of quiet, dry weather through Thursday, with mild and above-normal temperatures for mid-December.

Aside from an isolated light snow shower across the central mountains Wednesday morning, conditions will remain mostly sunny and dry across the region. High temperatures Wednesday will range from the upper 40s to low 50s in the mountain valleys and lower 50s along the I-25 corridor, while the plains warm into the upper 40s to mid-50s.

By Thursday, downslope westerly winds will help temperatures climb dramatically, with highs expected to reach the lower to mid-70s across the plains, including Pueblo and La Junta, and 50s in the valleys. Mountain areas will also warm slightly, with highs near 57° and abundant sunshine.

“These next couple of days will be a welcome break,” forecasters said. “Expect mild afternoons and mostly clear skies across southern Colorado.”

Overnight lows will remain seasonably cool, dipping into the 20s and 30s in the lower elevations and the teens in mountain valleys. The forecast remains dry into the weekend, though forecasters note a potential pattern change late Sunday that could bring cooler air and increased precipitation chances early next week.

Drivers and outdoor enthusiasts can look forward to ideal travel and recreation conditions through Thursday, but should still use caution on shaded mountain roads where light snow or ice may linger.
