SAN ANGELO, Texas – Dawn breaks calm across the Concho Valley, but the still air won’t last. Warm desert winds are already gathering to push San Angelo back into near-summer heat through Tuesday, sending afternoon highs soaring well into the 90s. It’s an early reminder that fall can still bite with heat before cooler air arrives later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, strong southerly winds will develop by Monday, with gusts up to 30 mph in open areas. The warm, dry air could heighten fire concerns along U.S. 67 and U.S. 87, where dry grasses remain thick. Drivers and ranchers should use caution — secure trailers, avoid sparks, and limit outdoor burning through Tuesday. Hydration and light clothing are key for outdoor workers as heat peaks early in the week.

By Tuesday, a brief cool push from the north drops highs back into the 80s, but sunshine dominates straight through Friday. Nights stay mild, bottoming out in the upper 50s and low 60s — comfortable for late-fall camping and evening events. No rain is expected through the weekend, keeping fields dry and skies brilliantly clear.

Looking ahead, early hints suggest a modest cool-down next weekend, possibly dipping highs into the upper 70s. That could mark the first true taste of late October air for the Concho Valley, ideal for Halloween decorating or post-storm cleanup. For now, brace for two more days of unseasonable warmth and gusty wind before autumn steadies its hand again.
