Camp Verde, AZ – Drivers headed south on Interstate 17 are facing major delays today after a crash forced a full closure near Camp Verde.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), the southbound lanes are shut down at milepost 278. Officials said there is currently no estimated time for reopening the highway.

Motorists are being detoured onto State Route 169 westbound to connect with State Route 69 southbound, where they can rejoin I-17. ADOT urged travelers to allow extra time and check for updates before heading out.

The closure is affecting traffic in Yavapai County and could cause extended travel times for drivers heading toward Phoenix from northern Arizona. Popular destinations such as Prescott, Mayer, and Dewey-Humboldt are along the suggested detour route.

For real-time updates, ADOT advises checking az511.gov or using the AZ511 mobile app, available for both Apple and Android devices.

Travelers should expect significant delays until the crash site is cleared.
