Melbourne, FL – Hurricane Milton struck East Central Florida, spawning at least seven tornadoes that ravaged multiple counties. The Category 3 hurricane made landfall on October 9, intensifying storms and unleashing severe tornadoes across the region.

According to the National Weather Service, the tornadoes touched down in areas including St. Lucie, Indian River, and Martin counties. The most destructive twister, an EF-3, tore through Fort Pierce and Vero Beach with 155 mph winds, injuring six and claiming lives in its path. It caused severe structural and vegetation damage, demolishing homes and uprooting trees.

In Martin County, another EF-2 tornado inflicted damage in Stuart, injuring one and destroying residences. Meanwhile, Okeechobee County witnessed a 2.6-mile EF-2 tornado that damaged barns and downed power lines, but no injuries were reported.
