Wakefield, VA – Virginia is set to experience severe weather conditions as Hurricane Debby, now a Category 1 hurricane, makes landfall in the Big Bend region of Florida. The storm will then move slowly northeast over coastal Georgia and South Carolina, impacting Virginia and North Carolina later this week.
According to the National Weather Service Wakefield VA, the region can expect seasonably warm and humid conditions today with scattered afternoon thunderstorms. Highs will reach the upper 80s to low 90s. Heavy rainfall and potential flooding are the main concerns as the system progresses.
The National Hurricane Center warns that the exact track and intensity of Hurricane Debby remain uncertain, with severe weather expected to persist into the upcoming weekend. Showers and thunderstorms associated with Debby’s tropical moisture may begin as early as Wednesday morning, with impacts potentially extending into the weekend.
