Huntsville, AL – A sharp cold front is set to bring some of the coldest temperatures of the season to North Alabama starting today. Temperatures are forecast to plummet into the 20s by Friday night, prompting residents to prepare for frosty conditions through the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, today’s high will reach 52°F with mostly sunny skies, but temperatures will drop to 35°F overnight. By Friday, expect daytime highs in the mid-40s, with gusty northwest winds making it feel even colder. Friday night lows could reach 25°F, making it the coldest evening so far this week.
Saturday will see more sunshine but offer little warmth, with highs in the low 40s and nighttime temperatures dipping to a frigid 24°F. Sunday remains cold but pleasant, with sunny skies and highs nearing 48°F. Overnight lows on Sunday will hover around 31°F.
Residents are urged to dress in warm layers, especially during early mornings and late evenings when wind chills could make it feel colder. If you plan to travel, ensure your vehicle is winter-ready and allow extra time for frosty conditions. Pets and plants should also be protected from the freezing weather.
Looking ahead, temperatures will moderate slightly by Monday, reaching the low 50s, with partly sunny skies predicted for Christmas Day.
