HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – North Alabama will stay unsettled heading into the weekend as scattered thunderstorms remain in the picture through Sunday. A stalled front to the southeast is pushing moisture into the region, keeping daily rain chances alive, though higher coverage is expected east of Huntsville.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, highs will top out in the mid-to-upper 80s, a touch cooler than earlier this week. Thunderstorms will be most likely in the afternoons and evenings Friday through Sunday, with the greatest chance coming Sunday at up to 40 percent. Storms could bring locally heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning.
Communities across Madison, Limestone, and Morgan counties should plan for brief downpours that could slow travel on I-65, I-565, and U.S. 72. Outdoor events may need backup plans, especially Saturday and Sunday. Officials urge residents to monitor conditions closely, avoid flooded roads, and move indoors when thunder is heard.
The unsettled stretch should end by Monday, when drier air arrives with highs near 86 and overnight lows dipping into the low 60s. More updates are expected if storm chances increase this weekend.
