Huntsville, Alabama – North Alabama closed out June 2025 with sweltering heat and pockets of heavy rainfall, as both Huntsville and Muscle Shoals posted average temperatures among the top 20 warmest on record. Muscle Shoals, in particular, ended the month nearly 2.5 inches wetter than normal, making it the 12th wettest June there.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, both cities reached a high of 98°F on June 25. Huntsville logged a monthly average temperature of 79.4°F, ranking 19th warmest, while Muscle Shoals matched that average but ranked 17th warmest overall. Lows dipped to 60°F in Huntsville and 59°F in Muscle Shoals on June 1, offering the only brief respite from the heat.
Rainfall varied across the region. Huntsville picked up 4.41 inches—just above normal—while Muscle Shoals recorded 7.41 inches, a full 2.36 inches above average. The heaviest single-day rain event came on June 18–19 in Huntsville and June 28–29 in Muscle Shoals, where more than two inches fell in 24 hours.
Residents should stay alert as hot and variable summer conditions persist. More heat and afternoon storms are possible heading into July.
