HUNTSVILLE, AL — Heavy rain and thunderstorms will sweep across Huntsville and the Tennessee Valley tonight, potentially impacting travel on Interstate 565 and surrounding areas. The National Weather Service (NWS) advises residents to expect wet roads and possible localized flooding through Thursday morning. With rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches expected, drivers should reduce speeds and be cautious of slick conditions and reduced visibility.
According to the NWS, showers will persist through early Thursday, with highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s. Southeast winds could reach up to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph, further complicating driving conditions. Thursday will see lingering rain before clearer skies return by late afternoon.
Friday’s forecast promises drier weather, with sunny skies and temperatures reaching the mid-60s, providing a brief respite. Temperatures will cool to the low 40s overnight. The weekend brings partly sunny conditions with temperatures in the 60s on Saturday and climbing to around 70 degrees by Sunday, perfect for outdoor activities. However, residents should be prepared for nighttime lows dipping into the 30s and 40s.
