HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Slow-moving thunderstorms could bring locally excessive rainfall to North Alabama today and Thursday, raising the risk for isolated flash flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas. Some communities could see repeated downpours that disrupt travel and outdoor activities.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, showers and storms will be most active Wednesday with a 50–80% chance, then taper slightly Thursday with 30–40% coverage. Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s to lower 90s, with some spots in the mid-90s by Thursday. Overnight lows will hold in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Hazards include ponding on roads, slower commutes, and potential street flooding. Drivers are urged to avoid water-covered roadways. Outdoor events may face delays, and residents should monitor NOAA Weather Radio or local alerts for any flash flood warnings.

Storm chances drop considerably Friday into the weekend, giving way to seasonably hot and partly cloudy weather. Highs will push into the mid-90s Saturday before another slight rain chance Sunday.
