Huntsville, Ala. – North Alabama will hold on to its stretch of warm, mostly dry weather for one more day before rain and storms return late this week. Highs in the Tennessee Valley will stay in the low to mid-80s through Saturday, with the best chances for scattered thunderstorms arriving Thursday and continuing through the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, rain chances remain low at first, with only a 10 to 30 percent chance Thursday. By Friday, storm coverage could increase to 20 to 50 percent, especially south of the Tennessee River. Saturday brings another round of scattered storms, with a 10 to 30 percent chance during the afternoon and evening hours.
Drivers along U.S. 72, I-65, and routes near the river should watch for wet roads and brief downpours late in the week. Outdoor plans across Huntsville, Decatur, and Florence may need backup options, particularly Friday night into Saturday. While no severe weather is expected at this time, lightning and locally heavy rain could disrupt outdoor activities.
Conditions should gradually dry out by Sunday, with highs staying in the 80s.
