Huntsville, Alabama – Clear skies and mild temperatures are expected to close out New Year’s Eve, supporting safe overnight travel and outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, generally sunny conditions will continue through Wednesday with afternoon high temperatures rising into the upper 40s to around 50 degrees. South winds are expected at 5 to 10 mph, keeping conditions relatively calm heading into the evening.

For New Year’s Eve tonight, skies are expected to remain mostly clear with temperatures gradually cooling into the upper 20s to lower 30s overnight. No precipitation or hazardous weather is anticipated, and no active weather alerts have been issued for Huntsville or surrounding North Alabama communities.

On New Year’s Day (Thursday), temperatures will trend warmer, with highs forecast between 52 and 58 degrees. Skies will remain partly sunny, continuing a stretch of seasonable and quiet weather to start 2026.

The extended outlook shows rain chances returning late Friday, with precipitation probabilities around 40–60 percent. Additional showers may linger into Saturday morning, followed by partly cloudy conditions Sunday and highs in the upper 40s to mid-50s.

While no road-specific impacts are expected tonight, commuters along major routes such as I-565, Memorial Parkway, and U.S. 72 should remain aware of cooler early-morning temperatures heading into Thursday.

This mild stretch may be especially welcome for students, service workers, and overnight shift employees traveling during New Year’s celebrations.
