Huntsville, Alabama – Cold temperatures and brisk winds are creating chilly conditions across Huntsville and North Alabama today, despite clear skies.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, midday temperatures across the area are ranging from 32 to 37 degrees, with wind chill values between 24 and 32 degrees. The colder wind chills are making conditions feel well below freezing at times, particularly during the late morning and afternoon.

In Huntsville, temperatures were reported near 33 degrees, with wind chills around 26 degrees. Nearby communities including Decatur, Muscle Shoals, and Fayetteville are seeing similar conditions, with wind chills dipping into the mid-20s.

The National Weather Service advises that these temperatures may impact roadways during the morning and evening hours, especially on bridges, overpasses, and less-traveled roads where lingering moisture could refreeze. Motorists along Interstate 565, U.S. 72, and Memorial Parkway are urged to remain cautious during colder periods.

Residents planning outdoor activities today are encouraged to dress in warm layers, limit time outdoors, and ensure pets are brought inside. Officials also recommend checking on neighbors and taking steps to prevent frozen pipes.

Forecasters note that while sunshine will continue, cold air remains in place through the day, keeping wind chills uncomfortable across the Tennessee Valley.

For commuters, students, and outdoor workers, the cold may add extra challenges through the remainder of today.
