Huntsville, AL – Mild weather holds across northern Alabama on Wednesday ahead of a much more active pattern Thursday, when thunderstorms—some potentially strong—are expected to move through the region.

According to the National Weather Service Huntsville, today will remain mostly cloudy with only a less than 15% chance of spotty showers. High temperatures should climb into the 53–57° range, while lows tonight fall into the upper 30s to mid-40s.

The focus turns to Thursday, when a strong cold front approaches during the afternoon and evening. Thunderstorm chances surge to 90%, with forecasters noting a low chance that a few storms could become strong to severe, particularly in southern Middle Tennessee. Damaging winds would be the primary hazard, and the Storm Prediction Center has placed lower Middle Tennessee under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather.

Temperatures Thursday will reach 59–61° before the front sweeps through, bringing sharply colder air Thursday night. Lows drop quickly into the 30–33° range, and Friday’s highs remain much cooler at 45–48° with overnight lows falling to 25–32°.

Dry, sunny weather returns Friday and lasts through the weekend. Saturday is expected to warm slightly into the 57–60° range with lows in the 40–47° range, offering a quieter pattern after Thursday’s storms.

Residents should monitor Thursday’s forecast for updates, especially those in Tennessee border counties, and ensure weather alerts are enabled for any overnight warnings.
