HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – North Alabama’s warm and tranquil fall weather will hold through Friday before an approaching storm system brings weekend rain and a noticeable cooldown. Highs in the lower to mid-80s midweek will slip into the 70s by Sunday as clouds and showers return.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, dry and sunny conditions will continue Wednesday through Friday, with overnight lows staying mild in the 50s to near 60°F. Light southerly breezes will help draw in extra moisture by late Friday, setting the stage for scattered showers and a few thunderstorms on Saturday, mainly west of Interstate 65.

The chance for storms expands across the Tennessee Valley Saturday night into Sunday as a weak cold front moves through. Rain could be locally heavy in spots, but widespread severe weather is not expected at this time. Temperatures will fall behind the front, with Sunday’s highs only reaching the upper 60s to lower 70s under lingering clouds and a cooler breeze.

Travelers should plan for changing conditions late Saturday, especially for outdoor football games and community events. Residents are encouraged to secure loose items and stay weather-aware as the front approaches.
