HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – North Alabama stays locked in a late-summer heat pattern this week, with only a slight chance of showers this afternoon before dry and hot weather dominates. Highs will climb into the upper 80s to near 90 through Friday, keeping the region several degrees above average for mid-September.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, a weak boundary could spark an isolated storm late Tuesday, but rain chances remain less than 20%. By Wednesday, skies clear and highs in cities like Huntsville, Decatur, and Florence will push into the lower 90s.

The stretch of warm days means roads will stay dry for commuters, but outdoor workers and students returning to school sports practices should take extra precautions against heat stress. Hydration and frequent breaks are encouraged, especially with humidity making it feel hotter.

Conditions remain quiet into Thursday and Friday, with sunshine ruling most of Alabama. Forecasters say the next chance for meaningful rain may not return until early next week.
