Huntsville, AL – A wet and cooler start to the week is expected across North Alabama as an area of low pressure brings widespread rain showers Sunday and Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Huntsville.

Forecasters say rain chances will range from 60% to 90% through Monday, with temperatures holding well below normal for late October. Highs are expected to reach the upper 50s to low 60s, while overnight lows dip into the upper 40s to low 50s.

Sunday will bring a steady chance of rain across the region, followed by heavier and more widespread showers Monday before drier conditions return Tuesday. Rainfall totals could vary depending on storm development, but some localized ponding is possible in low-lying areas.

By Tuesday, skies are expected to begin clearing, with highs rebounding slightly into the mid-60s as drier air filters in behind the departing system.

Residents are encouraged to allow extra travel time during the Monday morning commute and to keep an umbrella handy through early week.
