Huntsville, AL – Another warm day is underway across north Alabama today, but wet weather is expected to return tonight into Wednesday before drier conditions settle in later this week.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, high temperatures today will rise into the upper 60s to lower 70s, continuing an unseasonably mild stretch for mid-February. These warm conditions will be felt across the Tennessee Valley, including communities along Interstate 565, I-65, and US-72, as skies remain partly cloudy through the afternoon.

Rain chances increase significantly tonight as a weather system moves into the region. Forecasters report high confidence rainfall, with shower chances ranging from 70 to 90 percent overnight into Wednesday morning. Rain is expected to be widespread, though severe weather is not anticipated at this time.

By Wednesday, cooler air filters in behind the rain, with high temperatures dropping into the mid to upper 50s, and overnight lows falling into the low to mid-30s. Morning showers may linger early Wednesday before tapering off later in the day as clouds gradually break.

Roadways including I-65, I-565, US-231, and US-431 may become slick overnight and during the Wednesday morning commute due to wet pavement. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and allow extra travel time during periods of rain.

Looking ahead, Thursday brings a return to dry and seasonable weather, with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s under mostly sunny skies. No additional precipitation is expected once midweek rain exits the region.

Commuters, students, and outdoor workers should plan for wet conditions overnight and early Wednesday, followed by improving weather later in the week.

Forecast updates will continue as rain moves into the Tennessee Valley.
