Huntsville, Ala. – Drivers along I-565 will notice a rapid warmup by midweek as afternoon temperatures climb toward 80 degrees by Wednesday, pushing North Alabama into an early taste of summer before rain chances return Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, a gradual warming trend will take hold through midweek with mostly dry conditions dominating. Highs Monday and Tuesday will range from the low to upper 70s across Madison, Limestone and Morgan counties. Overnight lows will remain mild, settling in the upper 40s to upper 50s.
By Wednesday, highs are expected to reach 78 to 80 degrees in Huntsville, Decatur and Athens. Sunshine combined with light winds will allow pavement temperatures along I-65 and US-72 to rise quickly during the afternoon commute. Residents planning outdoor work or exercise should stay hydrated and take breaks during peak heating between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Cloud cover increases Thursday as moisture begins returning from the southwest. Rain chances remain limited, around 20 percent, with the best opportunity for showers focused across northwest Alabama, including Lauderdale and Colbert counties. Highs Thursday will approach 79 to 81 degrees before any showers develop.
The warming trend continues to dominate the week, with no widespread severe weather expected at this time. Drivers should remain alert for brief slick spots if isolated showers form Thursday evening.
Dry and warm conditions persist through Wednesday, with the next meaningful rain opportunity arriving Thursday night into early Friday. Additional updates will be issued if rain coverage increases later in the week.
