Huntsville, Alabama – Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms could impact travel from Wednesday night through Saturday.

According to the US National Weather Service in Huntsville, unseasonably mild weather will continue across North Alabama through the end of the week before a cold front arrives Saturday night. High temperatures are expected to reach the 60s and 70s each afternoon.

Tuesday’s highs will range from 63 to 71 degrees, followed by similar warmth Wednesday with highs between 62 and 72 degrees. Rain chances begin increasing late Wednesday night as moisture returns to the region.

By Thursday, highs could climb into the 70 to 78 degree range, with storm chances increasing to as high as 60% during the afternoon and evening hours. Friday brings additional shower chances, ranging from 20% to 40%, with highs between 66 and 75 degrees.

The greatest coverage of rain and storms may occur Saturday, when rain chances increase to 40% to 60% ahead of a cold front. Areas along Interstate 565 in Huntsville, Interstate 65 near Decatur and Athens, and US-72 toward Scottsboro could see periods of heavy rain and gusty winds.

Behind the front, temperatures are forecast to drop sharply, with overnight lows falling into the 30s by late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Commuters, students, and weekend travelers should monitor updated forecasts as timing and storm strength may shift.

Additional updates are expected from the National Weather Service as the front approaches.
