Huntsville, Alabama – After a chilly start Monday morning, temperatures across northern Alabama are expected to warm closer to seasonal norms through Tuesday, with widespread rain chances returning before cooler and drier weather arrives midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, Monday will remain dry with highs ranging from 43 to 51 degrees, providing a noticeable improvement from early-morning cold. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s, but conditions will remain quiet.

On Tuesday, warmer air continues to build into the region, pushing highs into the upper 40s to mid-50s. Along with the warming trend, rain chances increase significantly, with 60 to 90 percent probabilities across much of northern Alabama as a weather system moves through.

Rain is expected to impact travel throughout the day Tuesday, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours. Motorists traveling along Interstate 565 in Huntsville, Interstate 65 near Decatur and Athens, US-72, and surrounding state highways should plan for wet roadways and reduced visibility at times. While rainfall may be widespread, no severe weather or flooding concerns were highlighted in the update.

Tuesday night, temperatures will remain relatively mild, with lows generally in the low to mid-30s, before a cooler air mass moves in behind the system.

By Wednesday, conditions turn cooler and drier, with highs falling back into the upper 30s to mid-40s and overnight lows dropping into the upper teens to lower 20s. Skies are expected to clear as the rain exits the region.

The National Weather Service notes that this pattern marks a return to more typical February weather following Tuesday’s brief warm and wet period.

Commuters, students, and outdoor workers may benefit from the milder conditions through Tuesday, but should plan ahead for rain-related travel impacts and a colder feel returning midweek.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts for the most accurate timing of Tuesday’s rainfall.
