Huntsville, Alabama — A cold front is expected to bring widespread rain to the Huntsville area Wednesday, with much colder air moving in behind it, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service office in Huntsville reported very high rain chances Wednesday, with forecast probabilities ranging from 80% to 100% across the Tennessee Valley. Rain is expected throughout the day as the front moves through the region.

Forecasters noted there is an extremely low chance of a few flurries Wednesday evening, but emphasized that no impacts are expected from any light snow that may briefly occur. No accumulation or travel issues are forecast.

Temperatures Wednesday are expected to reach the upper 40s to low 50s, before colder and drier air moves in behind the front. Overnight lows will fall into the low to mid 20s, with daytime highs dropping into the mid to upper 30s Thursday.

According to the Weather Service, the colder air mass will remain in place into the weekend, with dry conditions expected and highs generally in the 40s, dipping into the 30s by Sunday. Overnight lows will continue to fall into the upper teens to low 20s.

Residents are encouraged to prepare for colder conditions, especially during overnight and early morning hours, and to monitor updates as the cold front approaches.

This weather pattern may be especially relevant for commuters and outdoor workers during midweek travel and early morning hours.
