Huntsville, AL – A mild and breezy day is in store for northern Alabama, with highs in the low to mid-50s before a cold front moves through late this afternoon, dropping temperatures by 5 to 10 degrees by Thursday, according to the National Weather Service Huntsville.

Forecasters say partly cloudy skies and strong southwest winds will dominate much of Wednesday, followed by a quick cooldown overnight. “There is a low chance of showers along a cold front this afternoon that will knock temps down 5 to 10 degrees tomorrow,” meteorologists said.

Tonight’s lows will dip into the mid-20s to low 30s, leading to a colder Thursday with highs ranging between 43–47° and dry conditions expected. The weather pattern will warm again briefly Friday and Saturday, with highs returning to the mid-50s to near 60°, before another 25–35% chance of rain arrives Saturday night.

Drivers may notice gusty winds during the afternoon as the front passes, particularly along I-65 and U.S. 72 corridors, where crosswinds could affect travel. The NWS recommends securing outdoor items and dressing in layers as temperatures drop tonight.

Looking ahead, mild but unsettled weather is expected into the weekend, with additional light rain possible Saturday night into early Sunday.
