Huntley, IL – An 18-year-old Marengo man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash Saturday evening near Huntley, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the incident happened around 6:44 p.m. on October 18, 2025, in the 14900 block of Harmony Road, west of Briar Hill Road, in unincorporated McHenry County.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim was riding a skateboard westbound along the eastbound lane’s edge when he was struck by a dark-colored SUV. The vehicle fled the scene following the collision.

Emergency responders from the Huntley Police Department and Huntley Fire Protection District arrived shortly after. The teen was airlifted to Javon Bea Hospital – Riverside in Rockford, where he remains in serious but stable condition.

Investigators later identified the suspect vehicle as a 2019 Toyota Highlander, leading to the arrest of 35-year-old Issac D. Keating of Marengo.

Keating was charged with:

  • Failure to report an accident involving personal injury (Class 2 felony)
  • Leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury (Class 4 felony)
  • Failure to provide aid (Class A misdemeanor)
