New York, NY – The National Weather Service in New York City has issued a Frost Advisory in effect from 11 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. EDT Saturday, with temperatures expected to dip into the mid-30s across portions of the lower Hudson Valley and southwestern Connecticut.

The advisory includes Orange and Putnam counties in New York and Northern Fairfield County in Connecticut, where overnight frost formation is likely under clear skies and calm winds.

According to the NWS, frost could damage or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered. Residents are advised to bring potted plants indoors, cover garden crops, and avoid watering late in the evening, which can increase frost risk.

This will likely be the first frost of the season for some interior suburbs north of New York City, as temperatures briefly fall to between 33 and 36 degrees before sunrise Saturday. Conditions will warm by mid-morning, ending the frost threat.
