Houston, TX – A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect across south-central and southeast Texas, with temperatures expected to drop into the 30s and wind chills as low as 18°F.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the advisory will remain active until Friday at noon, covering Houston, Galveston, Pearland, and surrounding areas. Officials warn that prolonged exposure to frigid temperatures could lead to hypothermia and frostbite. Residents should wear warm clothing, bring pets indoors, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

The weekend forecast shows rain chances increasing Saturday, with a 50% chance of showers and a possible thunderstorm overnight. Highs will hover near 47°F on Saturday before a brief warm-up into the mid-50s on Sunday. Monday will be mostly sunny with highs near 70°F, bringing relief from the cold snap.

Drivers should exercise caution on bridges and overpasses as temperatures drop. Officials also urge residents to use space heaters safely and avoid carbon monoxide risks from indoor generator use.
