Houston, Texas – Storm chances are set to return to Houston this weekend while heat index values push into dangerous territory, raising concerns for outdoor plans and travel through Tuesday. Saturday afternoon could bring scattered thunderstorms, followed by periods of clearing before another round of storms builds early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Houston, Saturday will bring a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms between noon and 5 p.m., with highs near 94 degrees. Combined with Gulf humidity, heat index values could reach as high as 107. Sunday will be mostly sunny but still hot, topping out near 96 with a heat index of 106.

Storms strengthen again on Monday and Tuesday, with rain chances climbing to 60 percent by Tuesday afternoon. Southeastern parts of Harris County and surrounding communities like Pasadena, Sugar Land, and Missouri City may see brief downpours and localized flooding during heavier storms.

Drivers are advised to slow down during sudden downpours and watch for ponding on low-lying roads. Residents should also limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

More storms remain possible into midweek, with the potential for additional advisories as Gulf moisture lingers.
