Houston, TX – Texans in Houston should brace for a wet and stormy Friday, with thunderstorms expected to impact morning commutes and evening travel across the city, especially along the I-45 corridor.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday’s weather will bring a 90% chance of rain beginning around 7 a.m., continuing with thunderstorms through the night. Showers could intensify during afternoon and evening hours, with localized flooding possible. Wind gusts may reach up to 30 mph, especially during peak storm activity. Motorists are advised to reduce speed, allow extra time for travel, and avoid flooded roadways.

Temperatures will reach a high of 75°F on Friday before dropping to around 67°F overnight. The storms may produce brief but intense rainfall, with potential accumulation between a quarter and half an inch. Scattered lightning and isolated downpours are also likely during the late evening.

By Saturday, conditions should begin to improve. Houston will see a slight 20% chance of lingering thunderstorms before noon, followed by gradual clearing and a high of 83°F. Sunday looks drier, with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid-80s.

Looking ahead to early next week, Monday and Tuesday are expected to remain partly cloudy with highs climbing to the upper 80s by Wednesday.

Residents should monitor NOAA weather alerts and ensure emergency kits are prepped in case of power outages or flash flooding. Those planning travel along major Houston routes, particularly I-45 and US-59, should stay updated on traffic and weather alerts throughout the day.
