Houston, TX – Residents across the Houston-Galveston area can expect dry, warm, and pleasant weather conditions this weekend, though an air quality alert is in effect for Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Houston-Galveston office, temperatures on Saturday, September 27, will reach the upper 80s to low 90s across the metro, with overnight lows dipping into the mid-60s inland and around 70 degrees along the coast. Conditions are forecast to remain dry through the weekend and into much of next week, with only a slight chance of rain returning late Thursday.

However, atmospheric conditions are favorable for elevated ozone levels Saturday, prompting an Ozone Action Day. Sensitive groups, including children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory conditions, may experience health effects from poor air quality. Officials recommend limiting outdoor activity to early morning or evening hours and reducing vehicle use where possible.

Looking ahead, NWS forecasts show a warming trend into early October, with high temperatures gradually climbing into the mid-90s by midweek. Rain chances are expected to return toward the end of the workweek, particularly for coastal and offshore areas.

Houston residents are advised to monitor local air quality conditions at airnow.gov and check for further NWS updates.
