HOUSTON, Texas – A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect for much of southeast Texas through 9 a.m. Thursday, with widespread visibility below one-quarter mile expected to impact early commuters from College Station to Galveston and across the Houston metro area.

According to the National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston, fog developed rapidly overnight under calm winds and clear skies. The advisory covers a large swath of south-central and southeast Texas, including Harris, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Liberty, and Galveston Counties. Forecasters warned that “conditions are very favorable for the development of dense fog overnight, likely affecting the morning commute.”

Drivers along I-10, I-45, and U.S. 59 should use extra caution, reduce speed, and keep headlights on low beam. Visibility could change abruptly, especially near waterways, rural intersections, and suburban lowlands.

The fog is expected to lift by midmorning, giving way to a mild and mostly sunny afternoon. Temperatures will reach the upper 70s to near 80°F inland, with light southerly breezes returning by afternoon.

Motorists are urged to allow additional travel time and avoid sudden stops in reduced visibility.
