Houston, TX – The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has issued a Fire Weather Outlook for Wednesday, October 15, 2025, warning of elevated fire danger across much of Southeast Texas due to continued warm, dry, and breezy conditions.

According to the NWS, dry vegetation and low humidity will combine with gusty winds—expected to reach 20 to 25 mph in some areas—to create an environment where wildfires could spread quickly. The agency cautions that “fires may be quick to start,” especially in areas north and west of Houston, including Brazos, Grimes, Walker, and Montgomery counties.

The Texas A&M Forest Service rates much of the region under “High” to “Very High” fire danger for Wednesday. Several counties already have outdoor burn bans in effect, including Harris, Waller, and Liberty counties.

Residents are urged to avoid any open flames or outdoor burning, secure tow chains, and refrain from discarding cigarettes outside. Afternoon highs are forecast to reach the upper 80s to low 90s, with nighttime lows dipping into the mid-50s to 60s.

Officials remind the public: “Only you can prevent wildfires.”
