Houston, Texas — Southeast Texas will experience another unseasonably warm day Saturday before a strong cold front brings a dramatic shift in weather late Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service.

High temperatures on Saturday are expected to reach the low to mid-80s across much of the Houston metro area, placing several locations near daily record highs for late December. Cities including Houston, Sugar Land, Conroe, and College Station are forecast to climb into the 80–84 degree range, aided by southerly winds and humid conditions more typical of spring than winter.

Saturday night will remain warm and muggy, with overnight lows only falling into the mid to upper 60s. Elevated winds overnight should limit widespread fog north of Interstate 10, though patchy fog remains possible near the coast and south of I-10, especially where sea fog persists.

The pattern changes quickly Sunday night as a strong cold front sweeps through Southeast Texas. Behind the front, temperatures will drop sharply, with highs falling into the lower to mid-50s on Monday. Morning lows early next week are expected to dip into the 30s for inland areas, including College Station, Huntsville, and Livingston, while coastal locations remain slightly warmer.

Rain chances increase Sunday into early Monday, with 30–45 percent probabilities across much of the region, though widespread heavy rainfall is not anticipated. The primary impact will be the abrupt temperature change, which may catch residents off guard after several days of near-record warmth.

Forecasters say cooler and more seasonable conditions are likely to persist through the end of the year. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates and prepare for layered clothing and colder mornings, especially early next week.
