Houston, TX – Windshield wipers are working overtime across the Bayou City this morning as rain and patchy fog blanket much of southeast Texas, making for a slow and slick start to the week. Drivers across I-45, I-10, and Highway 59 should expect low visibility and ponding on roads through 3 p.m., when a final wave of showers and a few embedded thunderstorms are expected to move through the metro area.

According to the National Weather Service in Houston, the storm system will bring up to an inch of rain before skies begin to clear later this afternoon. Temperatures will hover in the mid-40s early, climbing slightly by evening as winds shift from the north. Travelers should plan extra time and keep headlights on low beam until fog fully lifts.

Tuesday brings a big turnaround — mostly sunny skies and highs near 63°F, with light northerly breezes restoring calmer conditions. However, patchy fog may return late Tuesday night, especially in coastal counties, before another series of showers edges in by Wednesday night into Thursday.

By midweek, expect highs around 66°F, then a cooler, wetter trend as another front arrives Thursday, potentially bringing steady rain through Friday. The weekend, however, looks promising — mostly sunny and near 70°F by Saturday.

For now, Houston’s biggest challenge is reduced visibility and slick pavement. Allow for slower travel and avoid standing water on freeways and feeder roads.
